Offering efficiency and sustainability to the pharmaceutical industry
The Spanish company, part of Coesia and in the flexible pouch packaging machine market, will take part in the Ipack-Ima 2022 with an offering aimed at the pharma industry. A major role will be played by Enflex, a Volpak brand focused on low-speed horizontal form fill seal machines which showcases Volpak’s specific expertise in the industry. The company will present an F11 model specifically designed for the pharma sector.
1100 machines installed, 205 complete lines, and a portfolio of hundreds of worldwide customers who produce over 120 billion pouches every year. These are Enflex’s figures in the pharmaceutical industry, which is key for the Spanish brand and for which it has created a specific offer. Enflex machines are especially popular in the industry, as they combine high efficiency with key features such as durability and serviceability. Volpak’s machines are currently used by clients such as research laboratories, third-party suppliers, and small and medium businesses. The key markets are Europe and Asia, but the company is also interested in the American and African markets, where the pharma industry is showing high growth.
In the pharmaceutical industry, Enflex machines are typically used for the flat pouch (aka sachet) forming and packaging in the single or double version, for the packaging of products such as powder and granules for medical or veterinary use. The flat pouch is also an ideal choice for the packaging of products such as wipes and cotton swabs. The Spanish company’s machines can also be used by makeup and health care businesses thanks to the airtightness and sturdiness of the packaging produced by Enflex’s machines.
All these features make the F11 machine especially suited for the healthcare sector for the packaging of a wide range of products, such as pharmaceutical and nutraceutical powders and pills, or medical devices such as swab sticks and hygiene wet wipes. Its small footprint and ease of use make the machine ideal for cleanroom productions of both brand owners and contract-manufacturing organizations.
In addition to the specific solution that will be introduced at the trade fair, Volpak will also showcase its expertise in the flexible packaging of a wide range of consumer goods, which makes the company a world leader in the pouch market. The company’s technological leadership is such that four years ago it decided to build a ‘Pouch Lab’ – the first in-house research lab of any company focused on the study of the behavior of packaging materials. Over the years, Pouch Lab has led to important progress in the field of low environmental impact packaging materials, paving the way for the use of mono-materials and the ‘paper wrapping’ of products that were traditionally made of plastic. Today, Volpak isn’t just a trusted machine provider for its customers, it is also a partner of choice in the study and development of new applications in the field of flexible packaging materials.
The Covid-19 pandemic led to the country-wide lockdown on 25 March 2020. It will be two years tomorrow as I write this. What have we learned in this time? Maybe the meaning of resilience since small companies like us have had to rely on our resources and the forbearance of our employees as we have struggled to produce our trade platforms.
The print and packaging industries have been fortunate, although the commercial printing industry is still to recover. We have learned more about the digital transformation that affects commercial printing and packaging. Ultimately digital will help print grow in a country where we are still far behind in our paper and print consumption and where digital is a leapfrog technology that will only increase the demand for print in the foreseeable future.
Web analytics show that we now have readership in North America and Europe amongst the 90 countries where our five platforms reach. Our traffic which more than doubled in 2020, has at times gone up by another 50% in 2021. And advertising which had fallen to pieces in 2020 and 2021, has started its return since January 2022.
As the economy approaches real growth with unevenness and shortages a given, we are looking forward to the PrintPack India exhibition in Greater Noida. We are again appointed to produce the Show Daily on all five days of the show from 26 to 30 May 2022.
